NSS unit of PRSCET started in the year 2008 under the Guidance of the University of Kerala. On formulation of NSS Technical cell Kerala in the year 2010, the activities of NSS shifted under the technical cell. In 2014-15, our unit received best unit Award from the Hon’ble education minister, Kerala.

National Service Scheme ( Unit No : 221) is functioning in the college under the guidance of Programme Officer Mr. Anoop T M, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department with a strength of more than 100 Volunteers under NSS Technical Cell, Kerala. National Service Scheme is a student – centered programme, which acts as the link between campus and community, the college and village, knowledge and action. The overall aim of NSS is Personality Development of students through community service. National Service Scheme, popularly known as NSS, was formally launched on 24th September, 1969, the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation. During its 47 years of fruitful existence more than 2.7 crore students have so far benefited from this largest student-volunteership programme in the world.

The NSS unit of PRSCET performing many selfless activities that are very useful for the society; Agriculture support, Blood donation, Food and cloth supply to the needy people, Hospital equipment servicing, cleaning activities, Organize awareness programme for the bad effects of the
social problems like consumption of alcohol, smoking, usage of narcotic drugs items , mobile phone addiction etc.

PRSCET is the only college in Trivandrum which has the honour of getting the covetable NSS State level Award in 2017
